Toxins
A toxin (toxic material) is any
substance poisonous to an organism. All
toxins are harmful in large amounts, but
what constitutes an overdose for one
organism may be harmless to others.
Certain ways of taking a substance may
render it highly toxic whereas others
may not. For example, a small amount
injected could cause death, whereas the
same amount taken orally would have a
beneficial effect.
